‘Best Newcomer’: A Stand-Up Success

A very different form of Slade family talent was recently on show at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London when ‘Two Plus Ones’ a musical comedy trio was on stage competing in the final of the WEGOTTICKETS Musical Comedy Awards. Working with his two other Cambridge and Edinburgh Festival team mates, Luke Sumner and Joshan Chana, was Julian’ Slade’s great nephew Archie Henderson, one of the trio’s three highly creative song and sketch writers, singers, comics and dancers. The unbelievable dancing flexibility of Archie particularly astonished his 25 relations who had turned up to support him. Expressing a only slightly biassed view, Archie’s other great uncle Adrian Slade said “They deserved to win the top award of the evening but they were very happy to accept the ‘Best Newcomer’ Award  because all but two of the nine other finalists, from a much longer list of  original competitors, were all also ‘newcomers’.”
